SaaS Pirate’s Free Lifetime Deals Giveaway in 2020
We will giveaway free lifetime deals & resources for members in our Facebook & SaaSPirate community.
Hi guys, I wrote this reply for one of the giveaway discussions I was in in FB group. Thought to share it with you guys too so you will know my perspective when it comes to our giveaway.
I don’t run big giveaways because, for me, it’s really not possible during the COVID situation because everyone needs to manage their situation effectively.
But whenever I can, I will try to do it at least for 1 for every or two months because it’s a fun routine activity and keep the group engaged. If the prize is not by me, I will say whoever gave it like Kartik Sharma or WebFactory team.
I know giveaway great way to collect leads, but I don’t use that for it; the giveaway is always something that creates more interactions within the community and makes it a positive activity of giving something back to the community.
However, I never like to give something just for one person directly or pre-planned because then it will be favoritism, which I don’t want to do since every member is part of us.
These are things I always make sure of in my giveaways.
– I don’t collect email leads from anyone who signups to giveaway as entry to retarget them or add to the list. I especially in giveaway video will say that you can enter in, and once the winner is awarded and successfully contacted everyone to let them know the giveaway is over, then I will permanently delete all those emails and will not be used for marketing. This way, entrants can give their primary emails only for contact during the giveaway, and once done, they won’t get any new emails from me on those addresses.
-I don’t also like to give an only prize to the most entries or most points because then we are turning giveaway into a competition and asking them to lot to win like work and not giving a chance to people who only want to get entered into the draw since they won’t win anything. So I will always try to pick a random and even this process, I will record a video when I do it in the giveaway platform I use so the whole process can be seen and recorded by the app/video. I don’t do it live since I want to hide the email address of entry participants during the random winner selection from the app, but if there is a way to hide this in the live stream, I will do it live.
-Since the giveaway is something to give back to members/readers and not for lead generation or affiliate marketing, I don’t promote it in other places or do PPC or ads for it. I only share it in our communities so that one member who is part of it can win it rather than someone random or spam entries. Because of it every contest I create gets around only 20-50 entries, but I am happy about it because it’s going to someone from the community.
-I also try to get the winner(s) to leave their reply in the event of receiving any prizes in the announcement thread since it will show the winner’s real identity, and if someone wants to verify it, they can do it.
-I also make the bonus entries relevant; their purpose is to get a member who is in the community to another place. For example, if a member is in my group, then I try to get them on the YouTube channel or email list because of three reasons:
1. to spread the risk since all these communities are built on external platforms which we don’t know what’s going to happen anytime, so I try to spread my community to multiple places
2. Try to grow our community in all the places to get bigger and more opportunities and chances of growth.
3. Also, way to appreciate anyone who is already supporting me on multiple platforms. If they already in group and Youtube, I can offer more entries since they go out of their way to support.
-I also try to mention the benefit entrant will receive by completing any bonus entries like, Youtube subscribe because I create SaaS videos, Submit your honest review so new visitors will know the true experience, Join list because you will be kept in the loop. By doing this, we not just simply ask for their entry to get more points but also give value to the user in case he/she didn’t know it.
-Also, I will try to be honest in giveaways or anything I do because we can do good 100 times, but if you do a single wrong, one time and it gets discovered, there is high likelyhood of people remembering you for the wrong compared to all the right things you did. So will never sacrifice that knowingly.
Sorry for the long reply. I just thought of sharing my perspective.
