Interview with Bikrant Maharjan of WP Travel

Bikrant Maharjan WP Travel Interview

Meet Bikrant

Hey there! I’m Bikrant Maharjan, Lead of SEO and Marketing at WP Travel. My journey into SEO wasn’t exactly a straight road—I started as a content writer, then moved into eCommerce, and later worked at a web development company that upsold SEO services. That’s where I got a real taste of SEO, working for sites in multiple niches, ranging from hotels, restaurants, and accounting to mental health. But it wasn’t until later that I fully committed, teaching myself through free YouTube lessons, articles, and case studies.

Fast forward to today, I’m focused on SaaS products. I get to work with an amazing team at WP Travel, helping travel businesses grow online, drive more bookings, and build websites that actually convert.

What inspired the creation of WP Travel, and how has it evolved since its inception?

WP Travel was born out of a simple problem—building a tour booking website was either too expensive, too complicated, or both. Travel businesses had to either pay commissions to third-party platforms or struggle with rigid, overpriced plugins. We wanted to fix that.

Since then, WP Travel has grown into one of the most trusted travel booking plugins, powering over 6,000+ travel websites worldwide. We’ve added features that make running a travel business easier—flexible pricing, automated bookings, regional payment support, and powerful customization options—all without hidden costs or add-ons. And we’re just getting started!

What unique features set WP Travel apart from other travel website tools or plugins?

A lot of tour booking plugins out there lock their best features behind expensive add-ons. WP Travel? We give you everything in one package—and at a lower cost.

Some things that make us stand out:

  • No add-ons needed—you get all features, period.
  • Super flexible booking system—multiple pricing options, group discounts, and partial payments.
  • No commissions—keep 100% of what you earn.
  • Local & global payment support—works with PayPal, Stripe, and region-specific gateways.
  • SEO & speed optimized—because ranking on Google matters.

And soon, we’re integrating AI-powered tools to help users craft engaging trip descriptions and itineraries effortlessly.

How does WP Travel address the specific needs of local tour operators versus global travel brands?

We get it—running a local tour business isn’t the same as managing a global travel brand. That’s why WP Travel is built for both:

  • For local tour operators: We offer regional payment gateways, multi-currency support, and an easy way to manage custom itineraries.
  • For global brands: We provide multilingual support, scalable booking management, and advanced automation tools.

No matter your business size, WP Travel adapts to your needs, not the other way around.

What are the main challenges WP Travel solves for travel operators and agencies?

Here’s what we hear from travel businesses:
“Building a tour booking website is complicated.”
✅ WP Travel makes it easy, even for non-tech users.

“I don’t want to pay commissions or buy a dozen add-ons.”
✅ WP Travel has everything included—no extra costs, no commissions.

“Managing bookings manually is a nightmare.”
✅ We automate it—payments, invoices, confirmations, and more.

At the end of the day, our goal is simple: more bookings, less hassle.

What makes WP Travel’s premium travel themes ideal for travel-related websites?

We’ve designed our premium themes specifically for travel businesses. That means:

  • Built-in booking features—no extra setup required.
  • Beautiful, mobile-friendly designs—because first impressions matter.
  • Lightning-fast speed—so your site doesn’t keep visitors waiting.
  • SEO-optimized layouts—so you perform better on search engines.

Our themes aren’t just templates—they’re conversion-focused designs that help travel businesses get more bookings.

Can these themes be used by non-technical users to create professional websites?

Absolutely. No coding, no stress. Just one-click demo imports, drag-and-drop customization, and easy settings. Plus, we have step-by-step guides and video tutorials. If you can use WordPress, you can build a travel website with WP Travel.

What advice would you give to someone looking to build a SaaS product?

If I had to give just one piece of advice: solve a real problem first, then worry about everything else.

Beyond that:

  • Keep it simple. Users don’t want complicated solutions.
  • Listen to feedback. Your customers will tell you what they need—just pay attention.
  • Marketing matters. A great product won’t sell itself. SEO, ads, and partnerships are key.
  • Be ready to adapt. SaaS is always changing. Stay ahead or get left behind.

And if you’re just starting out? YouTube is your best friend.

What’s your vision for WP Travel in the next few years?

A few exciting things we’re working on:

  • AI-powered content generation—so users can create trip descriptions and itineraries instantly.
  • Even simpler onboarding—so setting up WP Travel feels effortless.
  • More integrations—from payment gateways to third-party marketing tools.
  • Expanding our marketplace—so free users can seamlessly upgrade when ready.
  • Expanding beyond WordPress—to bring WP Travel’s capabilities to even more platforms.

Long-term, we want WP Travel to be the ultimate travel booking solution—whether you’re a solo tour guide, a global travel agency, or using WP Travel on a platform beyond WordPress.

Did you enjoy our interview? Do you have anything to say to our community?

Definitely! I loved the conversation.

To the community: If you’re running a travel business, WP Travel is built for you. And we’re constantly improving based on your feedback, so don’t hesitate to reach out.

Also, if you’re thinking about SEO, content marketing, or even starting your own SaaS—just start. Everything you need to get started is already out there for free.

A huge thanks to Delon and SaaSPirate for this opportunity—I really appreciate it!

Looking forward to seeing what you all build next! 🚀
