Meet Muhammad

I’m Muhammad Abdullah Khan, Founder and CEO of SiteSkite. My journey in the web development industry began in 2008 when I started as a web designer and developer. Over the past 16 years, I’ve gained extensive experience across startups, enterprises, and government-level projects, particularly in UX/UI design and front-end development.

A significant milestone in my career was leading the UX design for a Blockchain project at Smart Dubai Govt in 2016, where I served as the Head of UI/UX in the UAE. I’ve also had the privilege of speaking at Upwork and mentoring at organizations like Re:Coded and ADPList.org.

For the last five years, I’ve focused intensively on SaaS product development, combining my expertise in UX/UI design with front-end development to create intuitive, scalable solutions. This expertise culminated in founding SiteSkite, a platform designed to simplify WordPress website management for businesses, agencies, and individual developers.


What inspired you to create SiteSkite?

The inspiration for SiteSkite came from my own experiences and observations in the web development field. After years of working with clients and managing multiple WordPress sites, I noticed a recurring pattern: the considerable time and effort spent on routine maintenance tasks rather than on growth and creative development.

Many developers and agencies were juggling multiple tools for backups, updates, security monitoring, and performance optimization—creating a fragmented workflow that was both inefficient and prone to errors. I saw an opportunity to consolidate these essential tasks into a single, intuitive platform that would streamline the entire process.

I wanted to create a solution that would free up web professionals to focus on what they do best—designing and developing—while ensuring their clients’ sites remained secure, up-to-date, and performing optimally. That vision evolved into SiteSkite: an all-in-one platform that simplifies WordPress management and empowers users to work more efficiently.

What’s one thing you wish more people understood about WordPress management?

I wish more people understood that proper WordPress management is not just about fixing things when they break—it’s about preventing issues before they occur through proactive, systematic maintenance. Many WordPress users underestimate the cumulative impact of routine maintenance on a site’s security, performance, and longevity.

Each skipped update, postponed backup, or ignored security warning creates technical debt that eventually results in significant problems, often at the most inopportune moments. What many perceive as WordPress being “difficult to maintain” is often the result of inconsistent management practices rather than inherent platform limitations.

The most successful WordPress implementations I’ve seen share one common trait: they treat maintenance as an ongoing process rather than a series of reactive interventions. This mindset shift—from reactive to proactive management—is what separates frustrating WordPress experiences from truly successful ones.

With proper tools and processes in place, WordPress can be an incredibly stable, secure, and powerful platform. The key is establishing systematic maintenance routines that address updates, security, performance, and backups on a regular schedule, rather than waiting for issues to become evident to end-users.

What advice would you give to new entrepreneurs entering the SaaS space?

For entrepreneurs entering the SaaS space, I’d offer this advice based on my journey with SiteSkite:

  • Build for scalability from day one: Design your infrastructure and code architecture with growth in mind, even if it seems like overkill initially. Retrofitting scalability is significantly more challenging and disruptive than building it in from the start.
  • Prioritize user experience over feature quantity: A focused product that solves specific problems exceptionally well is more valuable than one with numerous mediocre features. Resist the temptation to add features simply because competitors have them.
  • Invest in automated testing: As your codebase grows, manual testing becomes increasingly time-consuming and error-prone. Implementing automated testing early saves countless hours and prevents many customer-facing issues.
  • Listen actively, but filter strategically: While user feedback is invaluable, not every feature request deserves implementation. Develop a framework for evaluating feedback against your product vision and resource constraints.
  • Prepare for the customer success gap: Many SaaS founders focus heavily on acquisition but underestimate the resources needed for customer onboarding, education, and support. These elements often determine whether users become long-term customers or churn quickly.
  • Embrace iterative development: Release improvements frequently rather than waiting for perfect features. This approach provides valuable user feedback earlier and demonstrates your commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Document your journey: The insights and lessons you gain are valuable not just for your own growth but potentially as content that establishes your authority in your niche.

Most importantly, remember that building a successful SaaS business is a marathon, not a sprint. Sustainable growth often comes from consistent improvement and exceptional customer experiences rather than rapid feature expansion or aggressive marketing alone.
