Meet Fedor
Fedor Kulagin joined the company in September 2017 as a Junior C++ Developer. He started his career focusing solely on development tasks, implementing ideas proposed by others. Over time, he began generating and suggesting his own product ideas, which gradually expanded his role beyond programming. As a small team formed around him, Fedor took on managerial responsibilities, overseeing not only his own work but also the team’s overall performance. While the team size remained modest, his perspective broadened—he started thinking more about the product as a whole.
Eventually, Fedor became fully responsible for defining the vision and direction of Tokkit, driving its product development process. Alongside this, his interest in analytics, research, and experimentation continued to grow, leading him to take on new challenges, including the AI Video Cut project. Fedor holds a degree in Physics and Computer Science, with a focus on signal processing (radio, video, and image) and computer modeling of physical processes.
Can you give us the origin story behind the AI Video Cut?
We built AI Video Cut because we’ve been there: stuck in editing hell, scrubbing through timelines, trying to find the one moment that’s actually worth sharing, so we know how hard and time-consuming video editing can be.
That’s why in 2024 we made AI Video Cut.
Headquartered in Zug, Switzerland and scattered around the world, our team of 30 is a mix of developers, marketers, designers and content creators. The kind of people who’ve spent late nights editing in Premiere, rewriting captions for the fifth time, or wondering if it’s worth trimming that 90-minute interview into something TikTok-worthy.
We’ve taken all that experience and turned it into a product that does the heavy lifting for you, automatically.
What specific pain points does AI Video Cut solve for creators and marketers?
Automation of manual work – Don’t waste your energy or spend more money (on hiring someone) to process already-created content. Focus on producing NEW content, while VideoCut will generate the most viral shorts for you.
No need to dive into technology – You don’t have to deal with a complicated editor, figure out how to add subtitles, or worry about where to get transcripts. VideoCut brings everything together in one place under a simple interface.
What makes it stand out against other AI video editing tools?
- Pricing Advantage – First of all, the price: we are cheaper than our competitors.
- Smart Prompt Library – We offer a large set of ready-to-use prompts (15 in total). Some are tailored to specific types of input videos, such as podcasts or product reviews, which ensures the best possible results regardless of the original content type. How to Find the Best AI Video Cut Prompt for Your Content Goals
- Unlimited Storage – Currently, we do not impose limits on the amount of stored videos. For paid users, any number of projects will be stored for 6 months.
- Generous Free Plan – Free users get access to a significantly wider set of features compared to other tools, allowing them to fully explore the service before deciding to purchase.
How does AI Video Cut identify the “best moments” in a long-form video?
Optimized for Conversational Content – AI Video Cut is specifically designed to excel with conversational videos such as interviews, product overviews, presentations, and webinars. The service leverages advanced speech recognition technology to analyze the audio track of your video. It detects spoken words, timestamps, and speaker changes, enabling accurate transcript generation and seamless text-based editing. Getting Started with AI Video Cut
Smart Prompt System – We’ve put a lot of effort into creating powerful prompts that can extract the “best moments” from any type of video by analyzing the speech transcript.
What’s your long-term vision for AI Video Cut?
At this stage, our priority is breadth of development – adding new functionality rather than fine-tuning what already exists. Of course, if we see an opportunity to significantly improve an existing feature, we won’t miss that chance. But the main focus is on the user’s value chain: which of their routine, content-related tasks can we automate next?
In the ideal future, we envision an AI agent that fully automates the process of promoting your core content through short-form videos – you simply connect your channel, and then the magic begins!
Do you think AI-driven editing will replace manual editing entirely in the future?
Not entirely, because there will always be areas that require perfect post-production, with large budgets and plenty of time allocated to it. I don’t believe that, for example, manual post-production in the film industry will be fully replaced by AI solutions anytime soon.
But when it comes to solving simpler tasks, the answer is definitely yes — and we can already see this shift happening. After all, it seems much more valuable to spend your effort on creating new content rather than polishing “perfect” shorts. Meanwhile, AI solutions are already capable of producing shorts of sufficient quality to be used directly for promotion.
What excites you the most about being part of the SaaS industry today?
Previously, I worked on desktop applications, which have their own audience, limitations, and nuances.
So for me, this is a new challenge – new opportunities and new ways of engaging with customers. Web services make it possible to show users what we can do at a very early stage of the funnel. This comes with both advantages and disadvantages, but it’s exactly what makes the SaaS industry so dynamic and exciting.
What advice would you give new founders building AI-driven SaaS products?
Think in terms of this paradigm: “Which routine tasks, the small everyday ‘pains’ that drain people’s energy, can you automate with AI?”
Did you enjoy our interview? Do you have anything to say to our community?
We’ve enjoyed the interview and hope that the SaaSPirate community will find AI Video Cut interesting and will benefit from a lifetime deal for it published on SaaSPirate.
