Meet Olena
Hi, I’m Olena Klueva, COO at MonsterONE, and I’m excited to share insights about our platform and the value it brings to creators and businesses. I’ve been working in the web design and development industry for over a decade. I am one of those who were at the forefront of the global adoption of web themes for launching personal and business online projects.
My professional background spans creative design, website building, and SaaS product development. Over the years of my experience, I have been engaged in launching diverse types of ready-made design assets and participating in multiple small and large-scale projects. Yet, over the last few years, the MonsterONE subscription service has been my primary focus.
I have been involved in web theme development projects for over 10 years, and I have a clear understanding of how such designs are built and what an end user expects from these assets. Taking all this into consideration, along with our knowledge of trends and movements in the web design industry, we decided to launch MonsterONE, offering unlimited subscription services that include website templates, graphic design assets, and more.
What inspired the launch of MonsterONE?
Many of you associate me with another project besides MonsterONE. It’s the TemplateMonster digital marketplace, where we initially sold web themes made by in-house teams only, and then switched to the marketplace model, welcoming other teams and companies to sell their digital assets to the community of millions of active users. Upon communicating with end-users and observing industry trends, we decided to launch a subscription service that provides users with unlimited downloads of all items featured in their plans.
We made the MonsterONE subscription service different from other marketplaces, which were either too expensive, too fragmented, or lacked flexibility. We wanted to build a single subscription service that offered unlimited access to a vast library of assets, including templates, graphics, and plugins, all under one roof. So, we launched it back in 2021.
Can you walk us through the different types of assets available in MonsterONE?
MonsterONE is an all-in-one collection of a wide range of assets you may need for launching any digital project. Currently, the inventory includes over 535,000 products matching diverse types and categories.
More specifically, MonsterONE includes:
- Website templates & themes (WordPress, HTML, CMS solutions)
- Graphics & illustrations (icons, UI kits, branding materials)
- Presentation templates (for PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides)
- Plugins & add-ons (WordPress plugins, Elementor add-ons, etc.)
- Stock videos, audio, and 3D models
This way, we made MonsterONE a service that is handy to a wide range of people, including designers, developers, marketers, and creative professionals. With an active subscription plan, they do not need to switch between multiple providers; instead, they can download all they need for work in a single place.
Do contributors submit their work to MonsterONE, or is everything in-house?
We work on a hybrid model. When you browse the MonsterONE collection of products, you will find many assets created by trusted contributors, as well as a certain number of items produced by our in-house team.
Regardless of the author, all digital assets are carefully reviewed by the MonsterONE team to ensure that the end user downloads products of the highest quality.
What quality control measures are in place for the assets?
Every asset undergoes a rigorous review process before it’s published. We check for technical correctness, design quality, originality, and usability. For example, themes must meet coding standards and be optimized for performance, while graphics are tested for scalability and clarity. Continuous feedback loops and user ratings also help us maintain high standards.
How do you address copyright, licensing, and attribution issues?
We take licensing very seriously. Everyone who downloads our digital products can use them to create final end-products for themselves or their clients, but not for on-demand services or to promote their services.
In terms of the licensing under which authors sell their products, they can sell under an exclusive or non-exclusive license. If an author sells exclusively on MonsterONE, their assets are not available for download anywhere else on the web. If an author’s products are sold under an unexclusive license, their assets can be found on other marketplaces and websites.
What’s your view on the future of stock assets vs. custom AI creations?
AI is undoubtedly changing the creative landscape, and we see it as a complement rather than a replacement. Stock assets provide polished, ready-to-use materials that save time and effort. AI tools, on the other hand, allow personalization and rapid prototyping. The future will likely blend both: creators will rely on stock assets as foundations, then customize and enhance them with AI-generated elements.
When you look through the digital assets included in MonsterONE, you will notice a bunch of ready-made products that are integrated or support AI tools. We welcome authors to think creatively and expand the horizons of development and customization opportunities through the use of AI technologies.
What advice would you give to new SaaS businesses entering the market?
Focus on solving one real problem better than anyone else. Many SaaS startups fail because they spread themselves too thin. Start lean, validate with real users, and prioritize customer feedback over assumptions.
Don’t underestimate marketing. It entails more than just building a great product. If you create a great product but nobody knows about it, your effort will be worth nothing. A well-thought-out marketing plan helps you promote your offers effectively, ensuring that people are aware of them and understand their value.
Where do you see MonsterONE in a few years – still a design asset hub, or more?
MonsterONE will remain a design asset hub at its core, but our vision extends further. We aim to become a comprehensive ecosystem for creative professionals, integrating AI-powered customization tools, offering enhanced collaboration features, and facilitating seamless integration between assets and workflow automation.
Did you enjoy our interview? Do you have anything to say to our community?
Thank you for the invitation! It’s been a pleasure. I’m always happy to share my experience with designers, developers, and entrepreneurs. I am also thirty, and I appreciate learning new trends and insights from your other guests.
Let’s continue to strive for excellence, ensuring we deliver products of the highest quality that align with industry trends and user expectations.
