Why Black Friday is Great For Cloud Storage Deals

The cloud storage market has reached a tipping point in 2025. With the global cloud storage market projected to reach $639.40 billion by 2032, competition among providers has intensified dramatically. Black Friday has become the battleground where smaller, innovative providers compete against industry giants through aggressive pricing strategies.

Here’s what makes 2025 different: while major providers like Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox rarely offer Black Friday discounts (relying instead on ecosystem integration), specialized providers are rolling out unprecedented deals to capture market share. According to industry research, we’re seeing discounts ranging from 50% to 85% off premium plans.

  • Big Tech Strategy: Google, Microsoft, Apple maintain steady pricing year-round, focusing on ecosystem lock-in
  • Innovative Providers: pCloud, Sync.com, Internxt, Icedrive use Black Friday as primary customer acquisition tool
  • Market Opportunity: 62% of organizations exceeded cloud storage budgets in 2024, creating demand for cost-effective alternatives

Black Friday 2024 Cloud Storage Deals List

Okay, in this guide I am going to break down the best Black Friday deals for cloud storage in 2025. What I wanted to do is go through each provider, one by one, and explain what they do, who they are for, and what kind of deal they are offering. It is very important to understand not just the price, but the security and features behind it.

pCloud

First up is pCloud. These guys have been around for a while, since 2013 actually. They are based in Switzerland, which is a very big deal for privacy. The reason is, Swiss laws are super strict about data protection. Your data is legally safer there compared to many other countries. They have about 22 million users, so they are not a small company. The data centers are in the US and Europe, and you get to choose where your data is stored. Simple as that.

Their main mission was to create a cloud storage that is both super secure and easy for anyone to use. They are trying to find that balance.

Advanced Security & Encryption Architecture

Now let us talk about security. This is where pCloud gets interesting. They use something called client-side encryption.

Basically, what happens is, your files get locked on your computer before they even go to their servers. So pCloud never sees your actual files in an unencrypted state. They use strong encryption, like 4096-bit RSA and 256-bit AES, which are industry standards.

The main feature here is the pCloud Crypto Folder. This is like a special, ultra-secure vault inside your pCloud account.

  1. You put a file in there, and it gets encrypted on your device using your own secret key, called a Crypto Pass.
  2. Then it is uploaded.
  3. To open it again, you need that Crypto Pass.
  4. The most important thing to remember is this: pCloud has zero access to this pass. They cannot see it, they do not store it. If you lose your Crypto Pass, your files in that folder are gone forever. Even pCloud cannot help you. That is what zero-knowledge privacy means.

Key Features

  • Storage & Access: You can get up to 22TB of storage, and there are no limits on file size. You get a virtual “P: Drive” on Windows which is really cool, it acts just like a local hard drive.
  • Multimedia: It has built-in players, so you can watch videos or listen to music directly from the cloud.
  • Sharing: You can share files with links, protect them with passwords, and see how much traffic your links get.

Black Friday 2024 Deal Details

Okay, the deal. pCloud is famous for its lifetime plans. You pay once, and you own the storage forever. No monthly bills.

For Black Friday, they are giving a big discount, between 53% to 62% off.

Storage TierRegular PriceBlack Friday PriceDiscount
1TB Lifetime$435$19954%
2TB Lifetime$599$27953%
10TB Lifetime$1,890$79958%

They also have a new 3-in-1 Bundle for new users. It gives you 5TB of lifetime storage, plus the pCloud Crypto feature and pCloud Pass (their password manager) all for $599. That is a 62% discount. To be honest, this is a very solid deal if you want a set-and-forget solution.

Internxt

Next one is Internxt. This is a much younger company, founded in 2020 and based in Spain. Their whole mission is built around one idea: making cloud storage that is impossible to hack and respects user privacy above everything else. The founder, Fran Villalba Segarra, saw a gap in the market for a truly private service.

Their values are very clear. Privacy is a right, not a feature. They are open-source, which means anyone can look at their code to see if they are actually doing what they claim. This builds a lot of trust.

Advanced Security & Encryption Technology

Now, this is where Internxt stands out. They are the first cloud storage provider to use post-quantum cryptography.

What does that mean? Basically, scientists are worried that future quantum computers will be powerful enough to break today’s standard encryption, like AES-256. It might not happen for years, but it is a real threat. Internxt is already using an encryption algorithm called Kyber 512, which is designed to be safe from these future quantum computers. It is a very forward-thinking move.

On top of that, they have all the standard security you would expect.

  • Zero-Knowledge: They cannot see your files. Only you have the key.
  • Military-Grade AES-256: For another layer of protection.
  • Open-Source: As I mentioned, you can check their code on GitHub.
  • Audits: They have been verified by third-party security firms.

Comprehensive Ecosystem Beyond Storage

Internxt is not just cloud storage. They are building a whole suite of privacy tools:

  • Internxt Drive: The main cloud storage.
  • Internxt Send: For sending files securely.
  • Internxt VPN: To browse the internet privately.
  • And they have Mail, Meet, Cleaner, and Antivirus coming soon.

Black Friday 2024 Deal Details

Internxt’s deal is probably the most aggressive one this year. They are offering a 90% discount on ALL of their premium plans. This is huge.

The sale runs from November 11 to December 3. It covers everything, lifetime plans, annual plans, business plans, all of it.

Plan TierStorageRegular LifetimeBlack Friday LifetimeSavings
Essential1TB€1,300€130€1,170+
Premium3TB€2,300€230€2,070+
Ultimate5TB€3,300€330€2,970+

Look at those numbers. A lifetime 5TB plan for €330 is an incredible price, especially with the post-quantum security. If you believe in their mission and want the highest level of security, this deal is very hard to beat.

Sync.com

Sync.com is a Canadian company, based in Toronto. They have been operating for over a decade, since 2011. The founders actually came from the web hosting industry, so they knew a lot about cloud infrastructure before they even started Sync. Their goal was to create secure cloud storage back when that was not really a common thing.

Today, they manage over 8 billion files for millions of users. Being based in Canada is good for privacy, similar to Switzerland, because Canada has strong privacy laws (PIPEDA).

Advanced Encryption & Zero-Knowledge Architecture

Sync’s security is top-notch. They use end-to-end encryption, which is another way of saying client-side encryption.

Here is the process:

  1. Your files are encrypted on your computer with 256-bit AES encryption.
  2. The encryption keys never go to their servers.
  3. Only the encrypted file travels over the internet to their servers.

So, just like pCloud and Internxt, Sync.com has zero knowledge of your files. They cannot access them, period. They even encrypt metadata like file names and folder structures. They also have a lot of compliance certifications, like SOC 2, which proves their security has been independently audited.

Key Features

  • Core Storage & Sync: It offers real-time sync across unlimited devices. There are no file size restrictions.
  • Collaboration: You can share files securely, create password-protected links that expire, and set up team collaboration spaces.
  • Advanced Features: For businesses, they offer custom branding, team management dashboards, and activity logs.

Black Friday 2024 Deal Details

Sync’s Black Friday deal is a bit different. Their main offer is “3 years for the price of 1 year”. This is basically a 67% discount.

The promotion runs from November 25 to December 2. You do not need a coupon code, it is applied automatically.

PlanStorageRegular AnnualBlack Friday (3yr Total)Monthly EquivalentSavings
Solo 2TB2TB$96/year$96$2.67/month$192
Solo 6TB6TB$240/year$240$6.67/month$480
Teams UnlimitedUnlimited$540/year$540$15/month$1,080

The value here is really good. For the Solo 2TB plan, you pay $96 and get service for three full years. That breaks down to just $2.67 per month, which is very affordable for a zero-knowledge cloud storage service.

Icedrive

This is another new player, started in 2019. Icedrive is based in the UK. Their main goal is to be a modern alternative to the older cloud storage companies, because a lot of the older services, to be honest, they look a bit dated and are not very user-friendly. A very clean interface.

They have been getting a lot of attention for their fast growth and I personally felt their user experience is very good. They are positioned as a company that does not just copy what everyone else is doing, but actually tries to innovate on the user side of things.

Security & Encryption Architecture

Now for security, Icedrive does something, uh, a little different. Instead of using AES encryption which is the industry standard that almost everyone else uses, they use something called Twofish.

So, why Twofish? The reason is, the guy who made it, a famous cryptographer named Bruce Schneier, he designed it to be extra secure against certain types of theoretical attacks that AES might face in the future. It was one of the final five encryption algorithms in the competition that AES eventually won. So it is incredibly strong, just a different approach.

Here is how their client-side encryption works:

  1. First, the name of your file is encrypted on your computer.
  2. Then, the file itself is broken into small pieces or chunks.
  3. Each chunk is encrypted using a 256-bit key that only you have. This key never leaves your computer.
  4. The encrypted chunks are then uploaded to their servers.
  5. The result is a super secure file that only you can decrypt. Even Icedrive cannot see what is inside or even what the file is named.

This zero-knowledge architecture is very important for privacy.

Key Features

The biggest thing people love about Icedrive is the user interface. It is just really clean and modern. Very easy to use.

  • Virtual Drive: You can mount Icedrive on your desktop so it looks and feels just like a regular hard drive. This is super convenient.
  • Generous Bandwidth: They do not slow down your upload or download speeds, which is a problem with some other services.
  • File Previews: You can preview files directly in the browser without needing to download them first.

Black Friday 2024 Deal Details

Okay, so for their Black Friday deal, Icedrive is offering between 40% and 70% off their lifetime plans. Just like pCloud, you pay one time and you get the storage forever.

Plan TierStorageRegular PriceBlack Friday PriceDiscountSavings
Lite/Starter512GB$598$17970%$419
Pro2TB$958$34963%$609
Pro+3TB$689$45933%$230
Ultra8TB$1,119$79929%$320
Max10TB(varies)$899Up to 70%(varies)

Let me break down the value for you. If you look at the price per gigabyte on a one-time payment, the 10TB plan comes out to just $0.09 per GB. For lifetime access, that is an amazing value. If you want a modern-looking service with very strong security, this is a great option.

Koof

Alright, let us move on to the next one, which is Koofr. Koofr is from Slovenia, so it is another European company that has to follow strong GDPR privacy laws. They have been around since 2013.

But here is the most important thing about Koofr, remember this: it is fully employee-owned. The reason this matters is because there are no outside investors or venture capitalists pushing them to sell your data to make more money. The team owns the company. This is a big deal for long-term trust. They focus on stability, not just quick profits.

They also make a very specific promise: they are the only European cloud storage with no trackers and no cookies on their website. They are very serious about privacy.

Privacy & Security Architecture

So with Koofr, their security is a bit different. They have standard encryption for everything, your files are encrypted when they are being uploaded and while they are stored on their servers using AES-256. This is standard stuff.

But they also give you something called the Koofr Vault. This is their special folder for zero-knowledge, client-side encryption.

  • It is open-source, so anyone can check the code.
  • It encrypts your files inside your web browser before they are sent to Koofr.
  • It is included for free on all plans, even the free one.

You might ask, why is it optional? Basically it gives you flexibility. For files that are not super sensitive, you get faster speeds and features like file previews. For your most private files, you put them in the Vault for maximum security. Simple as that.

Key Features

Okay, the killer feature for Koofr, the main reason people use it, is its ability to connect to other cloud services. You can connect your Dropbox, your Google Drive, and your OneDrive all inside of Koofr. It is like a central hub for all your cloud storage. This is something most other providers do not offer.

Of course, they also have all the standard things like desktop sync, secure file sharing with password-protected links, and all these things.

Black Friday 2024 Deal Details

Now for the Black Friday deal. Koofr is offering 55% off all their yearly plans (from 100GB and up).

This deal is valid from November 25 to December 2. And this is very important, you have to use the promo code BF2024 at checkout to get the discount.

Plan TierRegular AnnualBlack Friday PriceMonthly EquivalentDiscount
100GB€0.99/month€0.45/month€0.4555%
1TB€9.99/month€4.50/month€4.5055%
5TB€35.88/year€16/month€1.33/month55%

To be honest, this makes it one of the most affordable private storage options out there. A 1TB plan for the equivalent of €4.50 a month is a fantastic price, especially for a European, privacy-focused company that is employee-owned. If you are on a budget but still want privacy, Koofr is a really, really strong choice.

NordLocker

So the next one is NordLocker. You have probably heard of its parent company, Nord Security, because they make NordVPN. The famous VPN service. So right away, you know their whole business is built around privacy and cybersecurity. That is their brand.

Nord Security is a big company from Lithuania, they are actually valued at over a billion dollars. They are a “tech unicorn.” They have a whole ecosystem of products, NordVPN for internet traffic, NordPass for passwords, and then NordLocker, which is their tool specifically for encrypting your files and storing them securely in the cloud. It all works together.

Advanced Encryption Technology

So what NordLocker does is, it is basically a file encryption tool first, and a cloud storage service second. The main thing is security.

They use a multi-layer encryption architecture. This is very important.

  • They use both AES-256 and another algorithm called XChaCha20. The reason they use multiple algorithms is for proven security against all kinds of attacks.
  • For managing your encryption keys, they use super strong 4096-bit RSA and Elliptic Curve Cryptography.
  • And to protect your password, they use something called Argon2, which is designed to be very hard to crack even with powerful computers.

The way it works is you create these encrypted folders called “Lockers”. You can have them on your computer, or you can sync them to the cloud. Anything you put inside a Locker is automatically encrypted. And of course, it is all zero-knowledge. NordLocker has no way to see what you are storing. The keys are yours alone, they are never sent to their servers.

Key Features

  • Core Storage & Sync: You get a certain amount of cloud storage, and your Lockers are automatically synced across all your devices. Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, all of them.
  • Secure Sharing: This is a really cool feature. You can share an entire encrypted Locker with another person, or just send a single encrypted file. You can protect the share with a password, and you can revoke access at any time.
  • Locker Management: You can create as many different Lockers as you want to organize your files. For example one for work documents, one for personal photos, something like that.

Black Friday 2024 Deal Details

Okay, let us talk about the deal. For Black Friday, NordLocker is offering up to 70% off their annual plans.

But here is the bonus. With the deal, you also get 3 months of NordVPN Premium for free. This is a great extra value, because you get both file encryption and a top-tier VPN.

Plan TierStorageRegular AnnualBlack Friday AnnualSavings
Basic100GB$38.28/year$11.88/year~70% off
Plus500GB$95.88/year$35.88/year~63% off
Premium2TB$155.88/year$59.88/year~62% off

The 2TB plan for about $60 a year is a very competitive price, especially when you consider you are getting a product from one of the biggest names in cybersecurity. And the free VPN is a nice touch. If you already trust the Nord brand, this is a very logical choice.

Proton Drive

Next up we have Proton Drive. This is another company that is all about privacy. Just like Nord, Proton has a whole ecosystem of privacy tools. They started with Proton Mail, which is now the world’s largest encrypted email service.

Their origin story is really interesting. They were founded in 2014 by a team of scientists who met at CERN in Switzerland. This is the same place where the World Wide Web was invented. So they were inspired by that history to build a more private internet. That is pretty cool.

The company is based in Switzerland, so they have that super strong legal protection for your data. And here is another very important point: Proton is controlled by a non-profit foundation, and the majority of the company is owned by its employees. They intentionally do not take money from venture capitalists. The reason is they never want to be in a position where an investor forces them to sell user data. Their entire business model is built on protecting your privacy.

Advanced Encryption & Security Architecture

Proton Drive uses OpenPGP end-to-end encryption. This is a battle-tested encryption standard that has been around for a long time. Governments and military operations use it to protect classified information, so it is extremely secure.

The process is what you would expect from a zero-knowledge service:

  1. Your file is encrypted on your device using OpenPGP.
  2. The encrypted file is sent to their servers in Switzerland.
  3. The file is stored in its encrypted state. Proton cannot read it.
  4. When you want to access it, you download it and decrypt it on your device.
  5. All the metadata, like your file names and folder structure, is also encrypted.

They have all the major security certifications like ISO 27001 and they are fully GDPR compliant. Security is everything for them.

Key Features

  • Proton Ecosystem: The biggest feature is how it integrates with their other products. Proton Mail, Proton VPN, Proton Calendar, and Proton Pass. You get a single, unified experience for all your privacy needs.
  • Collaboration & Sharing: You can securely share files with links, protect them with passwords, and set them to expire after a certain time. You can also control whether people can just view a file or also download it.
  • Storage & Sync: It has all the modern features like real-time sync, file versioning so you can recover older versions of a file, and offline access.

Black Friday 2024 Deal Details

For Black Friday, Proton is offering a 60% discount on their annual subscriptions for the first 12 months. The promotion runs for a long time, from October 28 to December 2.

The deal is specifically for one of their plans.

Plan TierStorageRegular PriceBlack Friday PriceMonthly EquivalentSavings
Drive Plus200GB$59.76/year$23.88/year$1.99/month$35.88

So, the Drive Plus plan, which gives you 200GB of storage, comes down to just $1.99 per month for the first year. Now, 200GB is not a huge amount of storage compared to some other deals, but what you are paying for here is the trust, the Swiss jurisdiction, and the entire Proton ecosystem. To be honest, if you are already a Proton Mail user, upgrading to this plan is a no-brainer. It is a fantastic value for what you get.

They also have a free plan with 5GB of storage, so you can always try it out first.

TeraBox

Okay, so TeraBox. You might have heard of it before under its old name, Dubox. They rebranded in 2021. The company that owns it now is called Flextech Inc., and they are based in Tokyo, Japan.

Now, this is very important, I need to make this clear. A lot of people get confused and think TeraBox is a Chinese company. The reason is because its old version, Dubox, might have had some connections there. But today, TeraBox is definitively a Japanese company. The ownership and operation is all from Japan. So that is one thing to keep in mind.

Their growth has been insane. They have over 250 million users. How did they do that? Simple. They have a business model that is very different from everyone else.

Storage & Security Features

The main thing about TeraBox is their free storage offering. They give 1024GB, which is 1TB, of cloud storage completely for free. Forever.

This is their entire strategy, basically. They attract a huge number of users with this incredible free offer, and then they make money when some of those users decide they need even more space or premium features and upgrade. It is a volume game.

Now let us talk about security.

  • They use standard TLS/SSL encryption when you are uploading or downloading files. This is the same security your bank uses on its website. It protects your files while they are in transit.
  • Once the files are on their servers, they use server-side encryption. This means the files are encrypted while they are stored.
  • They also have a feature called the Personal Vault. This is like a separate, locked folder inside your account that has an extra layer of password protection. For your most private files, this is what you would use.

The one thing to remember is that this is not a zero-knowledge service like Proton or Internxt. The company technically could access your files if they were legally forced to. That is the trade-off for getting 1TB of free storage.

Key Features

  • That Free 1TB: I mean, this is the main feature. It is a huge amount of space for free.
  • Large File Support: You can upload big files, up to 4GB on the free plan and 20GB on premium.
  • Automatic Backup: Their mobile apps can automatically back up the photos and videos from your phone. This is super useful.
  • Apps for Everything: They have apps for Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS, plus a web interface. So all the things you need are there.

Black Friday 2024 Deal Details

For Black Friday, TeraBox is offering 50% off their monthly premium plan. Their premium plan gives you 2TB of storage and unlocks faster speeds and bigger file uploads.

But actually, their annual deal is even better. You can get 1 year of premium for just $23.99.

Plan TierRegular PriceBlack Friday PriceFrequencyMonthly Equivalent
Premium (2TB) Monthly$3.49/month$1.75/monthMonthly$1.75
Premium (2TB) Annual$35.99/year$23.99/yearYearly$1.99/month
Free PlanFreeFreeForeverFree (1TB)

So, who is this for? To be honest, TeraBox is for people who need a massive amount of storage for a very, very low price, or even for free. If you are just looking to back up a huge collection of photos, videos, or documents and you are not storing super sensitive state secrets, the value is just unbelievable. You cannot beat 1TB for free.

Backblaze

Okay, now we are shifting gears a little bit. Backblaze is different from the others we have talked about. It is not really “cloud storage” in the same way as Dropbox or pCloud. Backblaze is a computer backup service.

They have been around for a long time, since 2007. They are a US company, based in California, and they are even publicly traded on the Nasdaq stock exchange. So this is a very established, very trusted company.

Their philosophy has always been about making backups simple and affordable. They were started by 5 guys in a one-bedroom apartment who just wanted to make a backup product that worked without any hassle.

Business Model Innovation

Backblaze actually has two different products, and it is important to understand the difference.

  1. Computer Backup: This is their main product for regular people. It offers unlimited automatic backup for all the files on your computer. You pay a flat fee per month or per year, and it just works in the background. It backs up everything.
  2. B2 Cloud Storage: This is their product for developers and businesses. It is more like Amazon S3. It is technical, and you pay for exactly what you use. We are not going to focus on this one for this guide.

The main thing for their Personal Backup plan is simplicity. You install it, and you forget about it. It just keeps your computer safe.

Encryption & Security Architecture

Security for a backup service is extremely important, of course. Backblaze uses a two-layer encryption process.

  • They use a combination of RSA and AES encryption. All your files are encrypted on your computer before they are sent to their servers.
  • The standard setup is very secure, but they also give you an option to set a Private Encryption Key (PEK).

If you set a PEK, you are the only person in the world who holds that key. Backblaze does not have it. This means your backup is completely unreadable to anyone else, including Backblaze employees. This gives you zero-knowledge level privacy. But there is a big trade-off. If you forget that key, your backup is gone. Forever. Backblaze cannot help you recover it. So you only use this option if you are very careful about managing your passwords.

Key Features

  • Unlimited Storage: This is the big one. You do not have to worry about running out of space. It backs up everything on your computer, no matter how big.
  • Automatic Continuous Backup: It is always running in the background, looking for new or changed files and backing them up. You do not have to do anything.
  • File Versioning: It keeps old versions of your files, so if you accidentally save over something important, you can get the old version back.
  • Disaster Recovery: If your computer dies or gets stolen, you can download all your files to a new one. They even have a service where they will mail you a physical hard drive with all your data on it.

Black Friday 2024 Deal Details

For Black Friday, Backblaze is offering a 30% discount on their Personal Computer Backup plan.

You need to use the coupon code CYBRBLZ24 at checkout to get the deal.

Plan TierRegular PriceBlack Friday PriceDiscountSavings
Personal (Unlimited) Monthly$9/month$6.30/month30%$2.70/month
Personal (Unlimited) Annual$108/year$75.60/year30%$32.40/year

So for about $75, you can get a whole year of unlimited, automatic backup for your entire computer. For anyone who does not have a reliable backup system, to be honest, this is a must-have. It is a very small price to pay for peace of mind.

Carbonite

Okay, the next one on our list is Carbonite. These guys are one of the original players in the backup game. They have been around since 2005, so that is almost 20 years. A very long time. They are a US company, started in Boston.

The main thing to know about them now is that they were acquired by a big Canadian software company called OpenText in 2019. So, while they started in the US, they are now part of a larger, Canadian-owned cybersecurity family. They are a true legacy brand in this space, they have backed up hundreds of billions of files over the years. They are very established.

Key Features

Carbonite’s main selling point, the core idea behind their service, has always been unlimited storage capacity for a single computer. Just like Backblaze.

The whole idea is to make it simple.

  • You install their software on your computer.
  • It runs in the background, you do not have to think about it.
  • It automatically finds your new and changed files and backs them up.

Their security is solid. They use 128-bit Blowfish encryption, and just like Backblaze, they offer a Private Encryption Key option for Windows users. If you choose this, you manage your own key, and nobody, not even Carbonite staff, can access your data. It is their version of zero-knowledge privacy.

They have different plans.

  • Basic Plan: Gives you the unlimited backup for one computer.
  • Plus Plan: Adds the ability to also back up your external hard drives.
  • Prime Plan: This one adds a courier recovery service. If your computer dies, they will physically ship you a hard drive with all your data on it, which can be much faster than downloading terabytes of data.

Black Friday 2024 Deal Details

For Black Friday, Carbonite is offering a very big discount. They are giving 60% off all of their consumer plans.

The promotion runs for about a week, from November 29 to December 8. And you do not need to enter a coupon code, the discount is applied directly on their website.

So for under $60, you get unlimited backup for your computer for a whole year. The main thing to remember is that this great price is for the first year. After that, it renews at the standard rate. But for getting started, it is a very strong offer from a very old and trusted company.

Filen.io

Now, let us look at Filen.io. This is a much newer company, started in 2020, and they are based in Germany. This is a very important detail. Germany has some of the strictest data privacy laws in the world, on top of the European GDPR rules.

Their whole company philosophy is built around zero-knowledge, end-to-end encryption. It is not just a feature for them, it is the core of their entire product. To prove it, they have made their source code public on GitHub. This means security experts from around the world can look at their code and verify that they are actually doing what they promise. This transparency builds a lot of trust.

All of their servers are located in Germany, inside highly secure data centers.

Advanced Security & Encryption Technology

So, security is everything for Filen. They provide zero-knowledge, client-side encryption on all of their plans. Yes, even the free one.

Here is how their process works, it is quite advanced:

  1. Your file is encrypted on your device using AES-256 encryption.
  2. The encrypted file is sent to their servers in Germany.
  3. On their servers, the files are separated and encrypted again while they are being stored.
  4. When you want to download a file, it is reassembled and decrypted only on your device. Never on their servers.

This means that at no point can Filen see your actual data. Even your file names are encrypted. It is a very robust system.

Key Features

  • Generous Free Plan: They offer 10GB of storage for free, and it includes all of their security features. This is one of the best free plans for a zero-knowledge service.
  • Network Drive Feature: You can access your Filen storage as if it were a local hard drive on your computer.
  • Smart Sync: This is a cool feature that lets you start working with your files instantly, without having to wait for everything to sync first.
  • Encrypted Extras: They are also building encrypted notes and encrypted chat functionalities into their platform.

Black Friday 2024 Deal Details

For their Black Friday promotion, Filen is giving up to 50% off all of their plan types.

And this is the really great part. The discount applies to everything: their monthly subscriptions, their annual subscriptions, and their lifetime deals. This gives you a lot of flexibility.

Plan TypeRegular PriceBlack Friday PriceDiscount
200GB Lifetime€71.98€35.9950%
200GB Monthly€1.98/month€0.99/month50%

Let us look at that lifetime deal. For about €36, you can get 200GB of highly secure, German-based, zero-knowledge cloud storage forever. That is an absolutely fantastic price. To be honest, if your main priority is provable privacy and security from a European provider, Filen.io’s offer is extremely attractive, especially the lifetime plans.

IDrive

So, IDrive. It is a US-based company that has been in the data protection market for a very long time, since 2005. They are a big, established player.

Now, here is the most important thing to know about IDrive, remember this. It is what makes them so different. A single IDrive account lets you back up an unlimited number of devices. I will say that again. Unlimited devices. Your PCs, your Macs, your servers, your iPhones, your Android phones… all of it. You can back up all of them into one account. The only thing you are limited by is the total amount of storage you buy. Most other backup services, you know, they charge you per computer. IDrive does not do that. For families or small businesses with many devices, this can be a huge money saver.

Dual Functionality Model

The other thing that makes IDrive special is that it is a hybrid solution. It acts as two different things at once.

  1. Traditional Backups: This is for making full backups of your devices. You can even do a full disk image clone, which means it copies everything on your hard drive. This is what you need for a complete disaster recovery if your computer crashes.
  2. Cloud Drive: This is a separate, dedicated space in your account that works more like Dropbox or Google Drive. It is for files you are actively working on and need to sync in real-time across all your devices.

So you get both a powerful backup tool and a modern file syncing service in one package. It is a very clever model.

Security & Encryption Architecture

For security, IDrive uses the standard 256-bit AES encryption for all your data. This is military-grade stuff.

And just like Backblaze and Carbonite, they offer a Private Encryption Key option. You can choose to set your own private key that is not stored on their servers. If you do this, only you can decrypt your data. This gives you that zero-knowledge security model. But, and this is a big but, if you lose that key, your data is gone for good. IDrive has no way to help you recover it. So you are responsible for keeping that key safe.

They also have a cool feature called IDrive Express. If you have a lot of data to restore, instead of waiting days to download it, they will physically ship you a hard drive with all your data on it. Depending on your plan, you can get this service for free once a year.

Key Features

  • Unlimited Devices: This is the main one. Back up every device you own into one account.
  • Full Disk Image Cloning: True disaster recovery for your entire computer.
  • Cloud Drive Sync Feature: Real-time syncing for your active files.
  • Business Features: If you have a business plan, you get a central dashboard to manage all your users’ backups remotely. This is very powerful for IT managers.

Black Friday 2024 Deal Details

Okay, get ready for this deal. To be honest, this is the single most aggressive discount I have seen in the entire cloud storage market for Black Friday 2024.

IDrive is offering 95% off the first year for their 10TB plan. Ninety-five percent.

PlanRegular AnnualBlack Friday First YearDiscountMonthly Equivalent
10TB IDrive Personal$99.50/year$4.98/year95%$0.415/month

This is not a typo. You can get 10TB of storage, for unlimited devices, for under five dollars for the entire first year. That is just insane. It breaks down to about 41 cents a month. Now, the important thing to remember is that this is a special offer for the first year. After that, it will renew at the standard price. But as a way to try out their service and get everything backed up, you will not find a cheaper deal anywhere. This is a massive, massive discount.

FolderFort

Alright, the next one is FolderFort. This is a brand new service, just launched in 2024. They are based in Canada.

Now, there is a very important technical detail you need to know about FolderFort. They do not operate their own data centers. Instead, their entire service is built on top of the Backblaze B2 backend. This means when you upload a file to FolderFort, it is physically being stored on Backblaze’s very reliable and secure servers. So, they are basically providing a user-friendly interface on top of a very powerful infrastructure.

Key Features

FolderFort’s entire design philosophy is about one thing: simplicity.

Right now, it works entirely through a web browser. There are no desktop or mobile apps you need to install, although they do have a sync client in beta testing. The main idea is you just log in through your browser and manage your files.

The core features are:

  • Workspaces: You can create an unlimited number of “workspaces,” which are like separate containers for your files. This is great for organizing different projects or sharing different sets of files with different people.
  • Secure Sharing: You can share files with password-protected links, and you can set those links to expire after a certain date.

For security, because they use Backblaze’s infrastructure, your data is protected by AES 256-bit encryption while it is stored. But, it is very important to note that FolderFort does not offer client-side or zero-knowledge encryption. This means a service administrator could theoretically access your data. This is not a service for your most sensitive secrets, it is for general purpose storage.

Black Friday 2024 Deal Details

FolderFort’s strategy for Black Friday is all about deeply discounted lifetime subscriptions. They sell these mainly through third-party deal websites like StackSocial.

Storage TierBlack Friday PriceRegular PriceDiscount
1TB Lifetime$59.97$25176%
2TB Lifetime$119.97$499.9976%

So for about $60, you can get 1TB of storage for life. This is a one-time payment. Who is this for? It is for budget-conscious users who want a simple, web-based storage solution and are happy to pay once and never think about it again. If you do not need native apps or zero-knowledge encryption, and you just want a place to park some files, this lifetime deal is a very affordable option.

IONOS HiDrive

Okay, so the next provider is IONOS. You might know them by their old name, 1&1. They are a huge German company, one of the biggest in the world for web hosting and cloud infrastructure. HiDrive is their specific cloud storage product for regular consumers and businesses.

Being based in Germany is a big plus for them, because like I mentioned before with Filen, German and European data privacy laws are extremely strict. So you get that GDPR compliance and peace of mind. They are a massive, very reputable company.

Key Features

So, what makes HiDrive special? Besides the German privacy, their biggest unique feature is the advanced protocol support. This is a bit technical, but it is very powerful.

They support things like:

  • WebDAV
  • SMB/CIFS
  • SFTP/FTPS
  • Rsync

What this basically means is you have many different ways to access your storage. You can mount HiDrive on your computer so it shows up just like a local network drive. You can use it with automated backup scripts, or connect it directly to a NAS device in your home or office. This level of flexibility is something you do not get with simpler services like Dropbox. It is for people who want more control.

Of course, they also have all the standard apps for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS. And they have good collaboration features for teams, like sharing files with password protection and setting download limits.

For security, they offer standard server-side encryption on their basic plans. But if you get their HiDrive Pro Plan, it includes end-to-end encryption for maximum privacy, along with a device backup feature.

Black Friday 2024 Deal Details

For Black Friday, IONOS has a really impressive deal, especially for small teams. They are offering 90% off the first year of their HiDrive Business 1TB plan.

PlanHiDrive Business 1TB (for up to 5 users)
Black Friday Price (First Year)$1/month (billed annually)

So for just $12, you can get 1TB of cloud storage for a team of up to 5 people for an entire year. That is an amazing price for a business-grade product from a major German company. The price does go back to the standard rate after the first year, but for getting a small team set up with a powerful, flexible cloud storage solution, this is a fantastic entry point.

Bunny.net

Okay, now for the last one, and listen carefully, because Bunny.net is not like the others at all. I have to be very clear about this. This is not a consumer cloud storage service for backing up your family photos.

Bunny.net is a comprehensive global platform for developers, websites, and applications. Their main products are a Content Delivery Network (CDN), DNS management, and a high-speed object storage service called Bunny Storage. Their entire focus is on performance, reliability, and cost-effective pricing for technical users.

Bunny Storage Specifications

Their storage solution is built for one thing above all else: speed.

The key feature, the really powerful thing they do, is Automatic Global Replication. Here is what that means in simple terms. You choose up to 15 different locations around the world. When you upload a file, Bunny.net automatically copies it to servers in all of those locations.

So what happens is, if someone in London tries to download your file, they get it from the London server. If someone in Singapore downloads it, they get it from the Singapore server. This dramatically reduces latency and makes downloads incredibly fast for everyone, everywhere. It is a system designed for distributing assets for a website or application globally.

Pricing Model (Pay-As-You-Go)

Their pricing is also completely different. They use a true pay-as-you-go model. You are not buying a fixed 1TB or 2TB plan. Instead, you are billed for exactly the amount of data you store, per gigabyte, per month, per region.

The prices are extremely low. For example, their standard storage costs just $0.01 per GB per month for the first two regions you choose. And their minimum monthly charge is only $1.

And here is a huge benefit for developers: traffic between Bunny Storage and their Bunny CDN is free. This makes it exceptionally cheap to host and distribute assets for a website, like images, videos, or software downloads.

Black Friday 2024 Deal Details

So, what is their Black Friday deal?

The answer is simple: 0% discount.

TierCostDetails
Standard HDD (Single Region)$0.01/GB/monthStandard pricing
Edge SSD Tier$0.02/GB/monthFor premium performance
Minimum Monthly Charge$1Very low entry point

Now, why do they have no deal? The reason is their pricing is already so consistently low and transparent all year round that they do not need to play the temporary sales game. Their value proposition is not a one-time discount. It is having industry-best pricing every single day. For their target market of developers and businesses, this predictability is actually more valuable than a temporary sale. So, if you are a developer, their standard price is already their “deal”.

Conclusion

So that is the complete breakdown. As you can see there are a lot of different options and some really crazy discounts, like that 95% off deal from IDrive which is almost free for the first year.

The main thing to remember is that there is no single “best” service for every single person. It all depends on your specific needs. You have to ask yourself the right questions.

Do you need maximum privacy with zero-knowledge encryption, or is a huge amount of cheap storage like TeraBox okay for your files? Do you want to back up one computer, or do you need to sync files across ten different devices.

The most important thing is to think about your use case first. Are you a developer who needs a service like Bunny.net, or are you just trying to save your family photos? Are you someone who wants to pay one time for a lifetime deal from pCloud or Icedrive and never worry about a monthly bill again? Look at the big comparison table I made, see which features matter to you and then pick the deal that matches. Actually, once you know what you are looking for, the choice becomes very easy.
